Impressions Saracen Cover Shot August 2013 [CT1]-page-001

Rebecca Levine, owner, R.Levine Original Prints, purchased her Mimaki digital printer from Hirsch in 2010. Since that time, she has established a successful business using the printer to decorate women’s apparel and accessories and selling them through local shows. In August, she not only decorated the featured shirt, but she’s also the cover story. Former Hirsch staffer Henry Bernstein shot the cover and the inside shots. March 6, 2013

Hirsch Kornit Storm II

The Kornit Storm II, a dual-pallet industrial digital inkjet garment printer offered by Hirsch Intl., is designed for high production output on light and dark garments. It has the capacity to print up to 158 shirts per hour with one operator.

The Storm II can be used to print on a wide range of finished garments as well as other textile applications in vibrant process color, and it offers the largest color gamut available. The print area is 20 inches (50 cm) by 28 inches (70 cm), and the machine can accommodate shirts up to XXL size.

Inkjet heads do not make contact with the substrate, which makes it easy to print over seams and pockets. Printer-friendly fabrics include cotton, polyester, cotton/poly blends, Lycra® spandex, Viscose, silk, denim, leather, and wool, among others.

It has the capacity to print at a resolution of up to 630 dpi and supports Windows XP. An automated pretreatment system is integrated into the machine, and it features a 1.5-litre industrial bulk ink system to support high volume production.
